The capital Muscat, Jebel Shams and Nizwa
In this complete travel guide to Oman we arrive in the capital city of Muscat and drive through a fairytale world in the desert to the mountains. We visit the souk, the marina, the great mosque of the sultan, see camels and walk along the Arabian Grand Canyon in Jebel Shams. Next up is Nizwa, where we visit the goat market, the Nizwa Fort, the souk and the Wadina Water Park.
Historical towns, the desert in Wahiba Sands, the Wadi’s and Ras al Jinz
We also stroll through the ghost town of Al Hamra among thousands of palm trees and we visit the medieval city of Bahla. Overhere is the oldest settlement in Oman, the Bahla Fort and the beautiful ruins of Jabreen Castle. Meanwhile, we are getting closer and closer to the big highlight of this trip: the infinite desert. We travel to the great no man’s land of the desert in Wahiba Sands. We also visit Wadi Bani Khalid and Wadi Shab. Another highlight is seeing the turtles lay their eggs in Ras al Jinz.
