Most travelers stay in luxurious resorts, but it’s absolutely worth leaving the hotel gates behind and exploring the real Dominican Republic. That’s exactly what we did with our little family!

We start our journey on the famous beaches of Punta Cana, soaking up the Caribbean vibes before hitting the road to discover the rest of the island. From the east coast we travel north to the stunning Samaná Peninsula, where we stay in nature resorts, go on a whale-watching expedition, and hike through the rainforest to the incredible El Limón waterfall.

At Playa Rincón, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, we find pure tranquility surrounded by nature. Our road trip continues along the North Coast, exploring Puerto Plata and the remote area of Monte Cristi, before we drive south to the desert landscapes of Salinas, the green mountains of Barahona, and finally the crystal-clear waters of Bahía de las Águilas — one of the most unspoiled beaches in the entire Caribbean.

Of course, we also stop in the lively capital Santo Domingo, where colonial charm meets modern culture.
