Hi there! Great to have you here. If you’re visiting this page, you probably love traveling just as much as I do. My name is Wout, and I’m the creator of the travel show Wout of the World.
My passion for travel didn’t appear overnight. From a young age, I lived for that exciting moment: my mother waking me up in the middle of the night to head to the airport. Holiday time again! With a traveling mother from South Africa and a father who studied Russian and later moved to Ukraine, curiosity about the world was part of my upbringing.
As soon as I was old enough, I wanted to explore beyond Europe and discover what the world had to offer. My first long-distance trips took me to the United States followed by an epic road trip through Eastern Europe with friends. I spent summers working at a beach club on the Spanish coast, and during my university years I lived for six months on the tropical island of Curaçao.
In 2012, I made my first major solo journey, traveling overland from Beijing to Bangkok, followed by adventures through Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. By then, travel had become more than a hobby — it was an addiction. And just like beer (I’m a real beer lover, by the way), the more you taste, the better it gets… and you always want to discover new flavors.
Along the way, I met my soulmate and travel partner Suus. Together, we explored Mexico, new parts of Asia, Africa, and completed a major journey through almost every country in South America. While many people around us were saving for cars, houses, or the latest gadgets, we chose a different path: traveling as often and as far as possible.
That mindset quickly grew into a lifelong goal — to visit every country in the world. And luckily, there’s still plenty of time to make that dream a reality.
I’ve always had a camera in my hands, but in 2015 I decided to document our travels more intentionally. The places we visited, practical travel tips, fascinating facts, and my personal perspective all came together — and Wout of the World was born as a travel show.
What sets it apart from traditional travel TV shows is its format: bite-sized, accessible travel stories. My trips are designed to be affordable and realistic, encouraging viewers to discover countries in a more authentic way.
In 2016, Suus and I took the big leap and traveled the world for an entire year. That journey marked a turning point. Wout of the World continued to grow into a global travel brand, with a steadily expanding audience across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
Along the way, our travels evolved as well. In 2018, our son Jens was born, followed by our daughter Céline in 2023. What started as a travel duo turned into a full-time traveling family.
Today, we have explored all continents and traveled in 153 countries, proving that world travel doesn’t stop when you start a family. Through our travel videos and stories, we show that adventure is possible in every phase of life — whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or as a family.
With over 15 years of travel experience and a professional background in the tourism industry, we provide expert travel advice based on first-hand experiences in over 150 countries.
Hello there! I’m Suus, a world traveler at heart with a backpack full of experience in the travel industry. I fell in love with Wout in 2011, married him in 2017, and became the proud mother of our little world wonders, Jens (2018) and Céline (2023). Showing our kids the world isn’t just a hobby; it’s the core passion that drives me every single day.
Twenty years ago, I knew the travel industry was my destiny. After two tourism studies and years of working in the field, I can proudly say that running Wout of the World together is the best job there is!
From idea to itinerary
I’m the one who turns a travel dream into a real journey. I design our routes, shape the day-to-day travel plans, and book everything along the way — from unique hotels and local stays to flights, trains, and even long-distance bus tickets. I love crafting journeys that flow naturally and leave room for spontaneity, while everything behind the scenes runs smoothly.
Connections, storytelling & partnerships
If you send us an email or slide into our Instagram DMs, chances are you’re talking to me. I manage all our social media channels, oversee our websites, and handle communication with brands, tourism boards, and partners. From relationship management to marketing strategy, I make sure Wout of the World continues to grow as a global travel brand.
We are always interested and looking for new partners to collaborate with! We have worked with hundreds of companies worldwide in many different ways. Send us an email to discuss the possibilities: woutoftheworld@gmail.com.
Traveling always remains the ultimate goal. I’ve now been to 153 countries and had countless wonderful adventures. What started as a personal passion has delivered an amazing bonus: we are closely followed by a huge and diverse worldwide audience.
Our community is thriving across every platform:
Facebook hosts 25K followers, mainly consisting of Dutch travel enthusiasts.
But the real engine is YOUTUBE. We post weekly videos watched by people all over the world. That’s why, since 2020, we have been producing our travel show in both English and Dutch.
With 112K subscribers and 1 million views monthly on our channel, we are currently experiencing massive growth.
Our reach allows us not just to travel, but to make a huge impact.
Things have changed since we started! In our early years, we focused on partnerships with local hotels and tour operators —we’d get sweet deals on hotels, tour operators, and rental cars in exchange for a shout-out in the video. And we still love those on-the-ground collaborations!
But now? Our world is bigger, our projects are more ambitious, and our partners are way more diverse.
We’re not just cruising with only local shops anymore; we’re working with the big guns too:
Global Titans: We partner up with major international players in the tourism world to tackle massive projects and help them reach our passionate travel audience worldwide.
The Gear That Goes With Us: We’ve branched out to work with top-tier brands beyond travel. Think tech, outdoor gear, and everything that makes our adventures possible. Seriously, we’re talking about collaborations with names like Sony and Samsung to put their awesome gear to the ultimate test out in the wild.
Home Base Hits: Even from our home in The Netherlands, we link up with various companies to promote consumer products or awesome holiday packages.
Since 2014, we have been on the road non-stop. What began as an adventure for the two of us, has, over the years, grown into a major family expedition.
After shorter trips to places like Aruba, Cuba, and Croatia, our son Jens made his big travel debut in 2020 with an island-hopping trip across the Caribbean. We were briefly forced to hit pause due to the pandemic, but we quickly grabbed our backpacks again.
In 2022, we embarked on the biggest journey of our lives: a one-and-a-half-year trip around the world across all continents.
We went home for a short break for the last trimester of Suus’ pregnancy.
Our newest family addition, daughter Céline (born in 2023), joined the fun and has been traveling the world with us for over two years now. We absolutely can’t wait to follow new paths and continue our adventure as a family of four!
Hang loose and see you soon!
