Road Trip Namibia: Walvis Bay
Coastal town Walvis Bay
We continue our road trip in Namibia along the coast and visit the coastal town Walvis Bay. This country, about 1.5 times the size of France, mainly consists of desert landscape.
To recap, in the previous episode we traveled along the coast of South Africa from Cape Town, before moving on to visit the first highlight of the country and the absolute number one sight: the Sossusvlei.
What to expect from this Namibia's Coastal Town
In this current episode, we continue the drive through an otherworldly no man’s land. Specifically, situated on the coast, just outside the extensive Namib Desert and surrounded by salt flats, is an industrial town called Walvis Bay. It’s actually an African name, although originally Dutch, named after the ‘walvis’, which means whale. We find out typical things about Namibia, head into nature, see pink lakes, salt flats and thousands of flamingoes.
Looking ahead, up next will be Swakopmund, Cape Cross, and finally, Etosha National Park for safari
