During our big Caribbean trip, we spend a week on one of the most unique islands in the world: Saint Martin – half Dutch and half French! 🇳🇱🇫🇷
It’s a small island with a big personality: lively towns, stunning beaches, green hills, and a fascinating mix of cultures. And the best part? From here, you can easily hop over to two neighboring islands – Anguilla and St. Barthélemy (St. Barts) – each offering its own Caribbean magic.
The Best Things to Do in Saint Martin
We start our adventure on the Dutch side, exploring Philipsburg, the colorful capital with its charming streets, shops, and oceanfront boardwalk. Then we visit the world-famous Maho Beach, where airplanes fly just meters above your head as they land. It’s one of the most thrilling experiences in the Caribbean! ✈️
Crossing over to the French side, the atmosphere completely changes – quieter, more refined, and full of culinary delights. We drive up to Pic Paradis, the highest point on the island, for breathtaking views over the turquoise bays. Other favorites include Anse Marcel and Oyster Bay, where you can swim, snorkel, or simply relax under the palm trees.
Island Hopping to Anguilla & St. Barth
From Saint Martin, island hopping couldn’t be easier! A short ferry ride takes you to Anguilla, a peaceful island with some of the whitest beaches and clearest waters in the Caribbean. Life here moves slowly – think beach bars, reggae tunes, and endless stretches of soft sand. 🏝️
Next, we take a trip to St. Barthélemy (St. Barts), the glamorous island known for its luxury yachts and designer boutiques. But beyond the glitz, you’ll also find incredible nature, small local villages, and the picturesque harbor town of Gustavia, as well as the iconic St. Jean Beach.
