The travel guide to La Réunion

Paradise island of France: La Réunion

This is the French paradise in Africa! Far away in the Indian Ocean is an incredible nature paradise island called La Réunion. Between Mauritius and Madagascar, this island has sandy white beaches, stunning volcanic landscapes, lush waterfalls and cosy colonial towns. During our two week family holiday full of sun, beaches, hikes and great food, I show you all the highlights of Reunion Island and all the top sights. At the airport in Saint-Denis we rent a car and drive to Boucan Canot, a hotspot near the best beaches. We visit the best snorkeling spot at Plage de l’Hermitage and drive down south to Saint-Pierre. We visit the volcanos at Piton de la Fournaise and see the best jungle waterfall Cascade de Grand Galet. Of course we brought the drone for perfect 4K footage.

Where to stay

This video is the perfect guide for a family holiday to Reunion Island! We stayed in Hotel Le Victoria for a few nights, located in Grand Bois. The second hotel we stayed in is Ermitage Boutik Hotel nearby the popular beach of Saint-Gilles les Bains.

Travel around in Africa

This was our video about our adventure on Reunion Island. Curious about our other adventures in Africa? Have a look at our Mauritius video here. We created videos about our road trip in Africa and you can find them all here.

Curious about our big South Africa road trip? Watch here the complete travel guide!

In the previous episodes you saw how we made a road trip from Cape Town to Kruger Park in South-Africa. We drove the Cape Namibia Route along the West Coast to look for animals in the Kalahari Desert. After that we crossed the border into Namibia, where we drove straight through the world’s highest sand dunes in the Sossusvlei. We saw all the sights in Namibia and went on a safari in Etosha National Park. Lately we visited Botswana and Zimbabwe, to cross the border again back to South Africa. From Johannesburg we take you island hopping on Mauritius and show you this ultimate travel guide and we ended our African adventure in Reunion Island.
