The travel guide to the Galapagos Islands
The Galápagos in Ecuador is one big animal paradise. Nowhere in the world can you see wild animals so easily in their natural environment. In this complete travel guide we show you all you need to know before you go!
How to get there
From mainland Ecuador we took a plane to the island of Baltra. From here we travel to Puerto Ayora on the island Santa Cruz. After turning this island completely inside out, we took a ferry boat to the island of Isla Isabela. To get to the third island San Cristóbal, we have to sail back to Santa Cruz first. From here we take another ferry to San Cristóbal.
What to do on Santa Cruz
We visit the Charles Darwin Research Center, named after the explorer and naturalist who based the Theory of Evolution on the animals of the Galapagos Islands. We also visit Tortuga Bay and Las Grietas, highlights with many more animals. Throughout the island we see land iguanas, marine iguanas, sea lions, giant tortoises, pelicans, crabs, tropical fish and birds.
What to do on Isla Isabela
During a snorkeling tour with Rebecca Adventure Travels to Los Túneles, we visit a famous dive site full of wildlife. We see sharks, rays, penguins, blue-footed boobies, turtles and much more. We also walk along lagoons with flamingos and we explore the island. At Concha de Perla we even snorkel with playful sea lions!
What to do on San Cristóbal
The sea lions are everywhere. We snorkel with sea lions and sea turtles and visit the most beautiful beaches of the Galapagos. We also visit the famous Kicker Rock for a snorkeling tour with Rebecca Adventure Travels and see hammerhead sharks, sea lions, rays, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, sea turtles and much more.
